Marketing ideas for marketers who hate boring
The best marketing ideas come from marketers who live it.
That’s what this newsletter delivers.
The Marketing Millennials is a look inside what’s working right now for other marketers. No theory. No fluff. Just real insights and ideas you can actually use—from marketers who’ve been there, done that, and are sharing the playbook.
Every newsletter is written by Daniel Murray, a marketer obsessed with what goes into great marketing. Expect fresh takes, hot topics, and the kind of stuff you’ll want to steal for your next campaign.
Because marketing shouldn’t feel like guesswork. And you shouldn’t have to dig for the good stuff.
You are not lost; you are simply forgetting to remember who you are.
The Meaning
At some point, everyone feels lost. We question our direction, wonder if we’ve strayed too far from our path, or feel weighed down by uncertainty. But as Rumi reminds us, this sense of being “lost” is not as real as it feels. We are not wandering without hope—we have simply forgotten to remember the truth of who we are.
There’s a powerful distinction here:
Being lost means you have no map, no sense of where you are.
Forgetting means the truth is already within you—you just need to uncover it again.
Rumi’s wisdom suggests that you carry a compass inside you. Your values, your passions, your essence—they don’t disappear. They may be covered by layers of stress, expectations, or self-doubt, but they are always there, waiting for you to return.
To “remember who you are” is not about finding something new. It is about peeling away the noise, the distractions, and the masks, so that your authentic self—the one aligned with love, truth, and purpose—can shine again.

The Context
Rumi (1207–1273) was a Persian poet, Islamic scholar, and Sufi mystic whose writings have inspired seekers of wisdom for centuries. His teachings often center on love, self-discovery, and the soul’s connection to the divine.
While this exact phrasing is a modern paraphrase of Rumi’s message, it perfectly captures his essence: that separation from our true selves is an illusion. In reality, the soul is never lost—it simply forgets. Through remembrance, reflection, and love, we return to the center of who we truly are.
How This Helps Us Today
The next time you feel adrift, pause and ask yourself:
What have I forgotten about who I really am?
When was the last time I felt most like myself?
What values or truths do I need to return to right now?
Instead of looking outside for answers, look within. The strength, clarity, and direction you need are already there.
